East Texas Oilfield Worker Killed On the Job in Industrial Accident
An East Texas oilfield worker was killed in an on the job industrial accident Thursday, March 6. According to news reports, the 43-year-old worker identified as James Croft of Tyler, TX suffered fatal crush injuries while working on a demolition project at Venture Chemicals, located a few miles outside of Seagraves in Terry County.
Croft, an employee of K&L Oil Field Demolition, was operating an excavator as coworkers attempted to take down a 600-barrel-capacity silo tank for demolition. During the process the silo tank fell, crushing the cab of the excavator with Croft inside.
Terry County Sheriff’s Office, Seagraves Fire and EMS, Wellman Fire Rescue, and Brownfield Fire and EMS were among agencies responding to the incident. According to the reports, firefighters used the Jaws of Life to remove Croft from the excavator.
Croft, pronounced dead at the scene, leaves behind a wife and five children.
