An 18-wheeler crash that occurred on I-610 this morning resulted in a hazmat spill across the freeway. The crash occurred a few minutes after 6 a.m. this morning, in the southbound lanes of I-610 near Wallisville.
The crash occurred when an 18-wheeler box truck collided with the middle lanes of the freeway, resulting in a major hazmat spill. The spill left fluid all over the roads, and the freeway was down to one lane.
Emergency responders and hazmat cleanup crews worked for several hours to remove the crashed vehicle from the freeway and clear the roads. The roads reopened a few hours later, at about 10 a.m.
Investigators are still working to uncover the events leading up to the crash and figure out what caused it.
