A mother has been killed and a driver injured on Sunday after a two-car accident in Kingwood. Police state that the incident occurred at around 7 p.m. on Sunday night, following a minor hit and run.

According to officials, a woman was driving a red Honda Civic with her children inside. They were heading southbound on U.S. Highway 59, close to where it intersects with Kingwood Drive. As she was driving, she was rear-ended. The vehicle that hit her sped off.

She stopped in the lane she was in to check on her children, who were in the backseat. As she was exiting the vehicle, a white Chevrolet Sierra struck the woman, attempting to avoid the vehicle. A third vehicle, a red Chevrolet Sierra, then struck the woman’s Civic, causing her to be thrown from the impact. The mother was killed, and she was found dead at the scene of the Kingwood accident.

Both of the Chevrolet Sierra drivers remained at the scene and cooperated with police. Authorities state that they did not find any signs of intoxication, and that no charges are expected to be made.
