One person has died and another has been injured following a crash that took place on the North Freeway. The accident occurred at the 1300 block of the North Freeway in Greenspoint near Rankin Road, at 2:45 a.m. this morning.
Police say the crash occurred when a speeding Mercedes driving in the northbound lanes of the North Freeway struck a Jeep Liberty in the far-left lane. The force of the impact caused the Mercedes to flip several times and land in the northbound feeder road, and the driver, who was not wearing a seatbelt, was ejected from the vehicle.
The driver of the Mercedes was pronounced dead at the scene. Their passenger suffered serious injuries and was hospitalized. The driver of the Jeep was not injured, and remained at the scene. Police say that neither driver showed signs of intoxication. Officials are still working to investigate the collision.
